X Artists’ Books announces Marcin Orliński as Polish Editor
X Artists’ Books (XAB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Marcin Orliński as Polish Editor. Orliński is a poet, literary critic, translator, and editor based in Warsaw. He has published seven volumes of poetry, most recently Jest. Other publications include Zabiegi, a collection of short prose pieces and a book of literary criticism entitled Płynne przejścia. He won the Adam Włodek Award in 2016 and was nominated for the Literary Award of the Capital City of Warsaw in 2024. His poems have been translated into several languages, including English, German, French, Swedish, Ukrainian, Russian, Czech, and Slovenian. From 2017 to 2024 he was an editor at Przekrój, the oldest Polish magazine on culture and society, where he served as deputy editor-in-chief since 2020.
In this role, Orliński is instrumental in a number of XAB projects that expand into publishing in the Polish language as well as commissioning literary translations from Polish to English.
Current projects include: Inselbergs, a volume of poetry by Bianka Rolando accompanied by the author’s lithographs. Translated from the Polish by Benjamin Paloff, will be published as part of X Artists’ Books’ X Topics (XT) series, a collection of books focused on the writing and ideas of marginalized voices.
A new translation of Julia Fiedorczuk’s novel The House of Orion is also forthcoming. Originally published in Polish as Dom Oriona by Wydawnictwo Literackie (Kraków, 2023), the novel is translated into English by Anna Zaranko with a new foreword by Katarzyna Kasia and cover artwork, inspired by the novel, by Alexandra Grant.
Additionally, the Polish edition of Alexandra Grant’s book The Artists’ Prison (XAB, 2017) entitled Więzienie artystów will be the first book published by X Artists’ Books in Polish. The first edition of Grant’s book was accompanied by illustrations by Eve Wood. For the Polish translation, a new visual contribution from Polish artist Igor Kubik accompanies the text.
